10 best snipers. Women, prone shooting

Biathlonrus.com continues its series about the main snipers of the world biathlon. Ekaterina Yurlova and Olga Zaytseva have finished in top-10 close to each other, outrunning the aces as Henkel, Eckholm and Berger. Pavel Kopachev entertains with an interesting statistics.

1. Marie ABER, France

Percent of hits: 91,90%

Number of races: 26

Closed targets: 193 out of 210

Zero world cups (not less than 2 races): Ruhpolding, Presque Isle

91,90 is of course not 96,12, which showed the leader of the men's rating Evgeny Ustyugov. But this is still an amazing result, taking into account, that Marie Dorin had 26 hard races. 17 misses out of 210 shots is a fantastic performance from a France athlete, who finished the season in top-10 for the first time in her carrier and earning more than 40 thousand euros of the price money.

2. Karin OBERHOFER, Italy
Percent of hits: 91,43%

Number of races: 14

Closed targets: 96 out of 105

Zero world cups (not less than 2 races): Pokljuka

The main sensation was a second place of a miniature Italian Oberhofer (her height is 163 sm, weight — 58 kilos), who had not so many races last season, but closed the targets with a great stability. A confident shooting let Karin to finish an individual race of the world cup 2011 at the 15th place.
3. Jenny JONSSON, Sweden
Percent of hits: 91,00%

Number of races: 14

Closed targets: 91 out of 100

Zero world cups (not less than 2 races): Pokljuka, Antholz

The young sister of a three-time world champion Helena Eckholm cannot boast of the titles, only the victory at the world cup's relay. But Jenny is perhaps the jewelry shooter.

4. Marie Laure BRUNE, France
Percent of hits: 90,91%

Number of races: 23

Closed targets: 150 out of 165

Zero world cups (not less than 2 races): Hochfilzen, Pokljuka, Fort-Kent

Brune had three podiums but no victories during the last season. She missed only three individual races. During the three cups she hit all the targets at her favorite prone shooting.

5. Eva TOFALVI, Rumania

Percent of hits: 90,34%

Number of races: 23

Closed targets: 163 out of 185

Zero world cups (not less than 2 races): Hochfilzen

You cannot call her speedy, but she still has her ability to shoot clean. Tofalvi had 20 races last season, the same amount as Zaytseva and Bogaliy-Titovets. There is still some strength left and there is no other way for her to compete with the elite except for the clean shooting.
6. Elena PIDGRUSHNAYA, Ukraine

Percent of hits: 89,68%

Number of races: 19

Closed targets: 139 out of 155

Zero world cups (not less than 2 races): Ruhpolding

Pidgrushnaya still cannot outrun the Semerenko sisters. The perfect shooting may not liberate her, but Alena chose the other way, taking the part in the special photo session before the season.

7. Teja GREGORIN, Slovenia

Percent of hits: 89,52%

Number of races: 26

Closed targets: 188 out of 210

Zero world cups (not less than 2 races): Ostersund, Pokljuka, Ruhpolding, Antholz

Gregorin had the all races of the 2010/2011 season, just like Aber, Henkel, Eckholm and Domracheva did. Teja is might be not perfect at the standing shooting, but was great at the prone shooting. In five races in a row — in Ruhpolding and Antholz — the Slovenian biathlete shot all targets. If she did not miss 6 times in two races of Presque Isle she could win this nomination.

8. Agnieszka CYL, Poland

Percent of hits: 89,41%

Number of races: 21

Closed targets: 152 out of 170

Zero world cups (not less than 2 races): Presque Isle

Getting married before the past season's start had a positive influence on the sportsman's eyes. 12 times she was in top-20 and once finished at the sixth place in Presque Isle. There may be even the bigger progress this year.

9. Ekaterina YURLOVA, Russia

Percent of hits: 88,82%

Number of races: 21

Closed targets: 151 out of 170

Zero world cups (not less than 2 races): Oberhof

Statistics

Prone shooting is Katya's favorite. She lost to Cyl only one miss. If Yurlova improves her standing shooting with Pichler and Rostovtsev she will certainly be at the podium.

10. Olga ZAYTSEVA, Russia

Percent of hits: 88,75%

Number of races: 20

Closed targets: 142 out of 160

Zero world cups (not less than 2 races): Pokljuka, Oberhof

Statistics

Stability is about Zaytseva. You can make any type of the biathlon's top-10 (even the most complicated) and there is always place for Olga, who was doing the whole team's work.

WHAT ABOUT OTHERS?

As we can see there are no Makarainen, Neuner, Berger and even the well-known shooting aces Eckholm and Henkel in top-10. It is even more interesting to compare the results of the leasers and average sportsmen, who can compete with each other at least in this rating.
