Service for Servicemen

A new wax truck of the Russian team was presented in Nove Mesto on February 6. Biathlonrus.com was one of the first to see the miracle car Scania, wondering at neatness and order, and found out all the advantages of the new house for Russian servicemen.

At the parking, the Russian truck placed among his brothers from Germany, Norway and Sweden. The new wax truck was provided to the team from Scania, which became the partner of the RBU for the next 6 years. This is a unique project for Russia. The RBU did not chose Scania by chance – this company has a worldwide experience in similar projects. In 2008, Scania made the first wax truck for the cross-country skiing team of Sweden, and last year it modernized it. Not so long ago, the Norwegian team has also bought car for similar needs from Scania.

“It is nice that we made something for development of Russian biathlon,” says commercial director of Scania-Rus Andrey Chursin. “We understand that skiing preparation plays an important role for biathletes. This wax truck is unique, and this is the first wax truck for Russia at all. We wish good luck to the Russian team in their hard work and good luck to biathletes in the races.”

Everything is on the high level in the truck. Every serviceman has an individual lighting of his workplace, power supply and intensified ventilation. Air conditioning and heating are also installed to the truck. The tables are fastened with special locks from aviaindustry, and they can be moved in any direction in order to optimize the workplace.

“I think there is all the best equipment that exists in our car,” comments head of the service team Alexander Voronin. “It is compact, tables are professional. We do not need to unpack our stuff every time and lose time on it. The ventilation is very strong. Yesterday we started to use powders – we could almost work without masks. The ventilation system works perfectly, and air is clean. We can say that it is our new home.”

There are special niches and brackets for the skis that allow storing more than 100 pair of skis. There is also a room of 7 sq.m. in the back part of the truck, which is drawn back to the truck while it’s moving. The room is for the team’s recreation. There are TV and kitchen equipment (teapot, coffee machine, microwave). Servicemen who wake up with sunrise and leaving their work place late night the room will be very useful. In one word, service for servicemen! One of the best service teams in the world has everything for successful work.

“We have dreamed for a long time about a home like this for our service,” says deputy CEO of the RBU Alexander Pak. “The talks between the RBU and Scania turned out to be quick and fruitful. We have already discussed with the service team the new truck. Of course, they were happy to get working conditions like these. I hope that with this car the results of the team will become even better, and our partnership with Scania will continue the same way.”

We will see the first results of work of the service squad in new conditions already this week at the world championship in Nove Mesto. After that the truck will travel to the capital of the Olympics-2014 and Khanty-Mansiysk. The service group is very serious about work in Sochi. By the next year our specialists should know everything about specifics and have all information about Sochi – they need to test all systems including the new truck beforehand.
