Natalia Burdyga appeals to RBU President

To the President of the Russian Biathlon Union
Mr. Mikhail Prokhorov
From Natalia Burdyga

Dear Mr. Prokhorov,

I’m appealing to you personally  to consider my request to allow me to start in the international competitions for the national team of Ukraine.

In spring 2010 after the Olympic season end, I had to make a very hard decision to move to Ukraine and ask them to accept me for the national team of Ukraine.

The main reason of my decision is that at present in Russia I can’t even qualify to the national B-team. I’m 27 years old ad I dream of continuing my sports career. I count on your positive response to my request, because I still hope to start at the competitions of the highest level and qualify for the Olympic Games of 2014 to be held in Sochi. I know very well that the level of competition in Russia is very high today and I have too little chance to go on doing biathlon in my native country. Besides, I’m not married and there is nothing to hold me in Russia today.

I’m asking you to understand me and my situation. 27 years is not the end of a career of a biathlete, but only if he or she competes at the highest international level. If at this age one has to qualify for a national team, there’s almost no chance to fulfill the potential. I’m asking for your understanding, because the change of sports nationality is the only chance for me. I have spent all my life practicing biathlon, I trained a lot and had dreamed of World Cups and World Championships I could compete in. I now have no right to give up and put up with being outboard and not able to do my favorite job.

Mikhail Dmitrievich, I’m asking you personally to consider my request. Please, know that your decision determines my personal and professional fate.

Sincerely yours,
Natalia Burdyga
