    The Executive Director of Russian Biathlon Union Sergey Kuschenko was elected to the central board of the Russian Olympic Committee. Elections were held within the frames of the Olympic Assembly, which took place on August, 5 in Moscow. 

    Together with Kuschenko the ROC president, Alexander Zhukov, Vice-Presidents ROC Sergei Bogdanchikov, Vladimir Kozhin and Ahmed Bilalov, as well as representatives of federations involved in the development of Olympic sports are in the central board. 

    The central board of the ROC is elected every 4 years and manages the activities of the Olympic Committee and convenes at least 6 times a year.

The Commission of Russian Biathlon Union, created by RBU President Mikhail Prokhorov to investigate the accident, which occurred on July 14 in Izhevsk, completed its work and submitted the leadership of the Union the results of internal audit. Law enforcement authorities of the Udmurt Republic continue the official investigation. 

The audit found out that the pupils and coaches of the sports school named after T. Akhatova, who were in Izhevsk in the summer training camp, were acquainted with specially designed safety instructions. The coaches were responsible for the security. All the documents relating to permits for the transport of weapons, registers of issue and turnover of weapons and ammunition exempted for the investigation. 

    As part of the official investigation, which law enforcement agencies of the Udmurt Republic involved, a criminal case was initiated, art. 109, part 2 of the Criminal Code of Russia — "causing death by negligence due to improper execution of a person of his professional duties."  
     
    In order to prevent such accidents, the Commission considers it necessary to recommend to the sports school named after T. Akhatova strengthen the enforcement of safety regulations, prohibit possession of firearms in a residential area, tighten the registration of number of cartridges and deliver them directly to the venue of the competition, enhance personal responsibility of employees of the sports school for executing instructions the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other bodies for storage and delivery of weapons and ammunition. 


    The Commission recommends that the Physical Education Department of the Yamalo-Nenets autonomous district, the Physical Education and Sports Ministry of the Republic of Udmurtia, as well as the heads of executive authorities of subjects of the Russian Federation in the field of physical education and sports to conduct spot checks of sports facilities and institutions, using weapons and ammunition, strengthen the enforcement of rules security, strengthen the personal responsibility of individuals for execution of instructions on storage and delivery of weapons and ammunition, tighten the record of the amount received and written off catridges.

     The Russion Biathlon Union took up the resignation of the first vice-president, member of RBU’s board, Alexander Tihonov. Yesterday Alexander Tihonov filed a resignation to the President of RBU Mihail Prohorov. The document was signed. Alexander Tihonov confirmed that he’s determined to outgo the RBU.

    «We thank Alexander Tihonov for his work» — commented on the news Sergey Kushchenko, the CEO of RBU to biathlonrus.com. — «He is a person devoted to biathlon indeed, his experience could be very helpful in the forthcoming Olympic cycle facing the Olympic games in Sochi 2014. But if he made such a serious decision we can not force him to proceed working. We have got a great respect to Alexander Ivanovich and with the same respect accept his decision».

    In followup of the Russian championship held in Ufa were defined the line-ups of the national teams for the European championship which will take place in Brezno-Osrblie (Slovakia) in August and for the World championship in Doushniki-Zdroi (Poland) in September. The choice was made according to results of three races (sprint, pursuit and mass-start). The points were scored for the first six places (7 – 1st, 5 – 2d, 4 – 3d and so on).

    The line-up of the ski-rollers race will be defined in followup of the competition in Saransk from 18 till 21 of August. Two athletes will join each team according to the results in sprint and individual event. The rest four athletes will be claimed by the coaching stuff.

    The company «Webasto Rus» and the Russian national biathlon team concluded the sponsor contract in July, 2010. «Webasto Rus»  represents a «Webasto» group (Germany) in the area. The Group is the leading world manufacturer of the transport heating and climatic equipment.

We have supported leading biathletes such as - Ivan Cherezov and Svetlana Sleptsova for a long period, being their personal sponsor.     On Monday women’s national team had a check workout in the training camp Otepaa. The girls ran three    1800  meters laps on ski-rollers and had shooting twice. Yana Romanova clocked the best time with one miss.
     
    Ekaterina Orlova and Svetlana Sleptsova followed the leader with equal time. However Orlova hasn’t missed and Sleptsova missed twice on stance. Olga Viluhina has the forth result with one miss. Then goes Anna Boulygina, Anna Bogaliy-Titovets got the sixth place.

    The trainer of the women’s team Anatoly Hovantsev said to the official site of RBU that the sprint was just a speed workout, no conclusions won’t be drawn.  “The weather in Otepaa is still hot, but it was a bit easier to run today than yesterday. The rowing workout will be held after lunch. Tomorrow we are planning a lasting workout on ski-rollers, then we are going to Moscow.”

    Russian Biathlon Union congratulates sailors and submariners on the Russian Navy day! 

    July, 25th the well-known traditional Russian toast «For those who are in the sea!» is raised. We especially pleased to congratulate on this day the head coach Vladimir Barnashov who served for 3 years in the Black Sea Fleet, Chief Petty Officer of Pacific Fleet, the men's team coach Michael Tkachenko, Commander of the Northern Fleet, Russian team manager, Sergei Rozhkov, sailors Victor Vassiliev and Artem Ushakov, and all our colleagues and friends related to the Russian navy!

    Men's Team made a preseason training in the Estonian Otepaa on July, 25th. 9 athletes toe the starting line on the 6 kilometers sprint-cross with the two shooting. Eugene Ustyugov and Maxim Tchoudov have not participated in the check workout as they have an individual program. 

    Maxim Maksimov breasted the tape with two penalty lap, the second was Andrei Makoveev with five misses, the third result -Vladimir Semakov with three penalty lap. 

    Men's team have one more check workout ahead in Otepää, this time on rollers.

    In Ufa has started the Russian championship in summer biathlon (cross). The athletes were tried out for a team for the World and Europe Championships. Natalia Solovieva, Smolensk region overwhelmingly won among women. In the men's race pure shooting ensured the victory of the local athlete Vitaly Kabardino. The winners of the championship among juniors were Kutliyarov Vadim and Natalia Shalaeva.

    On Saturday pursuit was held. Natalia Solovieva was the only one who managed to keep the first position in followup of sprint. Alexei Katrenko, Tatarstan, confirmed his status as one of the best Cross-Biathlon worldwide, rising from eighth place to the first. Best Juniors became Tatiana Kazakova (Bashkortostan) and Alexander Sapozhnikov (Chelyabinsk region).

    The Russian Biathlon Union has signed one-year contracts with famous producers of sports equipment FISCHER and SWIX .The leaders of Russian national team - Yevgeny Ustyugov, Ivan Tcherezov, Maxim Tchoudov, Svetlana Sleptsova, Anna Bogaliy-Titovets - have chosen FISCHER for the coming season.

    Russian athletes are to attend "Biathlon Star Race" in Pyuttlingene that will be held at the beginning of August. National team on a commercial tournament in Germany will be presented by Maxim Tchoudov and Svetlana Sleptsova. 
     
    That was the duet that performed in Püttlingen last year. This tournament is called "Urban Race" — the trail runs through the streets and shooting range is located in the heart of Pyuttlingena. Yury Preobrazhentsev will be helping Chudov and Sleptsova in shooting in and making the adjustments during the race.

    As for the rest commercial tournaments, initially it was decided by the national team coaching stuff that Ivan Cherezov and Evgeny Ustyugov were to compete on the Norwegian festival "Blink" in Sandnes. But later it was decided to restrain from the performances in Norway — Cherezov still has not recovered from the hand injury and Ustyugov missed the first camp of the national team spending the whole June in training according to his own sparing practicing schedule.

    Russian Biathlon Union official website announces the re-launch of the English version. Translation has been stopped after the Olympic games in Vancouver due to the technical problems.

    Russian Biathlon Union apologizes for any possible inconveniences and expect English-speaking fans of the Russian biathlon to visit the site on regular basis.

    Ilya Istmomin, 15, was injured on July, 14 by his teammate. A random shot went off while the boys were in their hotel room. Ilya was moved to the hospital but died after unsuccessful surgery.
     
    Both boys participated in a summer training camp with their biathlon school from the town of Labytnangy. The prosecutor general’s office of Russia has started an investigation.
     
    The commission of the Russian Biathlon Union headed by Sergey Kuschchenko, RBU's CEO, has to make results of the investigation available before August 1, 2010.

    On March, 9th Russian biathletes leave for Kontiolahti World Cup starting on March, 12th. All the members of the Olympic team are now having their small vacation at their homes but for Viktor Vasiliev who takes part in the European Championships in Otepaa.

    Russian biathlete Yevgeny Ustyugov scored 2 World Cup victories and became the leader of the WC Total Score in January, which granted him a victory also in the TV rating this month. He obtained a total of 50,2% of the viewers votes in the sms voting at “Rossiya -2” (Russia-2) and online voting at Sportbox.ru In the final round of the voting Ustyugov overtook truck racer Vladmir Chagin.
