Summer Biathlon European Championship took place in Slovakian Osrblie

On July 27–29 the Summer Biathlon European Championship took place in Slovakian Osrblie. 160 sportsmen from 12 countries, including exotic Taiwan and Kenya, participated in the tournament. Biathlonrus.com summarizes results of the Russian team at the championship:

Overall, the Russian team won five gold, four silver and two bronze medals, and took the first place of the national cup at the championship.

On the first day of the championship, the Russians took five medals.

In the men’s sprint, the entire podium was Russian – Rinat Gilazov won Gold, Rustam Davletshin and Vitaly Kabardin finished second and third, accordingly. In the junior men’s sprint, Russian Ivan Kusakin celebrated the victory.

Ukrainian Svitlana Krykonehuk was the best in the women’s sprint, outrunning Olympic champion Anastasia Kuzmina. Irina Kudritskaya was the best among the Russian girls, finishing fourth. Despite of her four misses at the shooting range Elena Yarkova managed to win Silver in the junior women’s sprint.

On Saturday, the pursuit races took place at the championship.

Rinat Gilazov repeated his success in the men’s pursuit race, winning another Gold. Ukrainian Svetlana Krikonchuk did the same in the women’s pursuit, leaving Anastasia Kuzmina second. Russian Olga Prokopeva improved her result from the 9th place in the sprint to the bronze medal in the pursuit.

Kirill Komarov and Ivan Kusakin took Silver and Bronze of the junior men’s pursuit. Elena Yarkova won another Silver in the junior women’s pursuit.

On Sunday, the Russian team won another two Gold medals in the mixed relays.

Both, the Russian senior team and junior team left Ukrainians at the second place.
