Evgeny Ustyugov: “It was much easier to run pursuit than sprint”

Biathlete of the Russian team Evgeny Ustyugov commented on his performance in the pursuit at the Olympic Games in Sochi:

«It was much easier in the pursuit than in the sprint. I set myself for the proper work on the track — I knew there would be fight on the last lap. And so it happened. I did everything I could, but it was very hard to win back 12 seconds. My competitors did no sleep, they were strong. Perhaps, if I distributed my strengths better in sprint, it would be easier today. In sprint I started fast from the first lap.

Today I had a pitty miss. Without it I would be able to fight for medals. Every athlete does his best in every race. We are like soldiers, we do what we are told to do. No one wants to miss races.»
