Olga Zaitseva: “I am in good physical shape now, but shooting form is worsening”

Olga Zaitseva commented on her performance in the women's mass start at the biathlon World Cup in Pokljuka:

«During the whole season I had a lot of plans, but not all of them realized. I was not lucky in the last years. But I keep fighting. I now I can be on podium. I am just a little bit unlucky. There are minor problems in all components. Today I did well.

I am in a good physical shape now. I have strengths. Skiing was good in both, sprint and pursuit. Perhaps, my shooting form is worsening. Today I shot well with one miss. In the morning I had some problems with my rifle and I spent some time fixing it. Perhaps, I shot more accurately today. Third place is a good result for me after all unsuccessful starts that I had.

I am happy that I have Olympic medal. But I do not feel satisfied fully with my individual starts. I keep moving forward and realize my plans. Today I am back on podium. This gives motivation to keep working. I would call my performance in Pokljuka as good. I always miss something. When you are relaxed it is all happening by itself. Today I did well in shooting, skiing and handled my nerves. I want to thank our service team and coaches. We are one team and work together. This work gives its results.»
