Counting down days before the first winter Olympic Games in Russia, Biathlonrus.com looks back and recalls a great history of the Russian biathlon. Only one photo, but it hides the whole epoch. In a new rubric “The Greats”, our honored veterans will talk about events and people that created a great history of Russian biathlon. In the first story, we remember the person who is no longer with us – the first Olympic champion in biathlon from the USSR, Vladimir Melanin. In winter 2014, it will be a 50th anniversary since our biathlete first won the Olympic gold medal.
