Thank you Sven for interest to Svetlana. I'll add your link to our site link department and hope you'll do the same with RBU-site. -
Свен, 12 Апр 2008, 21:51Hi Ali, thanks a million! That's just great, and of course, I didn't hesitate a millisecond to add a link to your site:

I'd really love to participate in the discussions in the Russian forum sections as well. However, I don't speak Russian. Not yet, at least. I started learning Russian only recently, and as soon as I feel fit for communicating, I'll try to contribute something.
Спасибо, and see you...... -

Свен, 13 Апр 2008, 02:13Hi Wilhelmina, thank you for your warm welcome. I'm already starting to feel at home! :)
Well, I guess you're right - practicing the Russian language in "real life" is probably the best thing to do, so this forum can probably help me to get along quickly.
I'll do my best! ;)
Bye..... Sven -

Свен, 3 Июля 2008, 00:14Non-Russian fans of Svetlana Sleptsova might want to refer to the English translation of her RBU biography page, which I'm offering with kind permission of the RBU:

Свен, 29 Сен 2008, 15:23Svetlana Sleptsova has put an exclamation mark behind the stunning results of her winter season 2007/2008. She achieved double gold at the Russian Summer Biathlon Championships 2008 at Ufa.
Here's a transcription of the top 10 results of the women's Individual and Sprint competitions:

Свен, 5 Окт 2008, 17:46Just finished the English translation of Ali's first interview with Sveta at Ufa, right after winning the 15 km individual:
Sleptsova continues her victory series

[Edit: Corrected the translation according to Wilhelmina's suggestion in the posting below]
Another interview translation, featuring Sveta (and the last one for today):
At Ufa, she reminded Russian biathlon of herself
http://www.svetlana-sleptsova.com/?topic=26
Sveta must have been quite cheerful on this day. It's just fun to read her funny comments on lots of things in her life and career. I especially liked this statement:
It appears that Sveta has an excellent sense of dry humor! :lol:Furthermore, my personal coach Valery Zakharov said it would be necessary to remind Russian biathlon of myself. And I reminded it twice (laughs).
By the way, the complete list of interviews translated by the web team of "Svetlana Sleptsova Fans International" can be found in the "Features" section, which is updated quite frequently by now:

It would actually be a bit better to say "At Ufa, she reminded Russian biathlon of herself" and then something of the kind:
Furthermore, my personal coach Valery Zakharov said it would be necessary to remind Russian biathlon of myself. I did twice (laughs).
I have not read the translation more, but I'm quite sure, that it would be better to change these things. -
Свен, 6 Окт 2008, 21:00Wilhelmina:
Thanks for the correction. Actually, it makes much more sense this way.
Maybe I did too many translations yesterday. ;)
Fortunately, as far as Sveta's joke is concerned, the punch line is not affected. -

You're welcome :) -
Свен, 23 Окт 2008, 00:56I'm happy to announce that the website team of "Svetlana Sleptsova Fans International" has put much effort into transforming the site into a multi-lingual one. Most content is available now in Russian and German, besides English. We did this upgrade by request of fans from Russia and Germany, who don't know English well enough to read the content in English language. Now the site has come even closer to being an "international" platform.
This is the Russian start page:
http://www.svetlana-sleptsova.com/?locale=ru
This is the German start page:
http://www.svetlana-sleptsova.com/?locale=de
In the future, the content will be published in English first, but the Russian and German translations will follow without much delay. -
Свен, 7 Дек 2008, 00:28It's so great to have Sveta on TV again! (Even though the TV directors at Oestersund don't seem to know that she's one of the VIP's, and tend to ignore her.... :?)
Here's a roundabout of the first two competitions of the winter season:
- Oestersund, part 1
- Much better now
We've also got a translation of Sveta's recent interview on AllSport.ru after the Individual:
- Svetlana Sleptsova: We had to file a protest concerning the results of the last shooting
And finally, some new pictures:

Свен, 7 Дек 2008, 23:35Another recent interview with Sveta, translated to English and German:
- Svetlana Sleptsova: If I hadn't aimed at the fifth target for so long, I could have gone for the pedestal even with a miss
- Svetlana Sleptsova: Wenn ich nicht so lange auf die f?nfte Scheibe gezielt h?tte, w?re sogar mit einem Fehler noch ein Podestplatz m?glich gewesen -
Свен, 15 Дек 2008, 01:20Dear Russian biathlon fans, I had a great time at Hochfilzen, thanks to YOU!

Свен, 21 Дек 2008, 01:30When I went to the arena this morning, I had a feeling that this would be Sveta's day. It simply had to be! Everything else would have been unfair. And hey - it WAS Sveta's day! :D
At the victory ceremony in the evening, I was able to take some nice pictures of Sveta - finally without a cap! ;) Alas, they are a bit noisy, because the light was very dim, and I didn't want to use a flashlight. Note that my camera had a severe malfunction just when Dima was signing a Russian flag after the men's sprint ceremony, so the picture series abruptly ends after that, and I wasn't able to portary Sveta on top of the pedestal. Those technical devices are crap..... my camera seems to have swallowed too much water during the women's sprint. :?
Anyway, here are my photos of today:
- Sprint (men)
- Sprint (women)
- Ceremonies

Свен, 21 Дек 2008, 01:53The pleasure was on my side!It was nice to meet u in Hochfilzen!
And in the next season, I'll talk Russian with you. :) -
Свен, 27 Дек 2008, 19:35Translation of an interview with Sveta after her Sprint victory at Hochfilzen:
- Svetlana Sleptsova: The yellow jersey feels like bricks on my shoulders
- Svetlana Sleptsova: Das gelbe Trikot lastet wie Ziegelsteine auf meinen Schultern
More translations coming up soon.......... -
Свен, 28 Дек 2008, 23:47On December 24, SkiSport.ru has published a nice and long interview with Sveta. It's very different from the usual "boilerplate" interviews - it already starts at the very interview setting, which was very informal. The interview was conducted in multiple parts at various places - and mostly in a hurry.
However, the most remarkable thing about this interview is how honestly Sveta answers all questions, turning her heart and soul inside out, and revealing some of her deepest personal feelings. In the end, the reader gets an authentic glimpse of who Sveta really is. That is - not the brilliant sportswoman, but the human being inside of her.
Great reading! And thank you, Sveta.
- Svetlana Sleptsova: "Clenching my teeth on each meter..."
- Svetlana Sleptsova: "Auf jedem Meter die Z?hne zusammenbei?en..."
It required a big amount of patience to translate and edit this interview, because it comprises lots of colloquial language. I have tried to transfer the gist of the text as faithfully as possible. I hope you enjoy reading it, just like I did. -
Свен, 3 Янв 2009, 22:59A wonderful interview with Sveta in two parts, conducted by our Ali. It was a pleasure to translate it to English and German language:Слепцова: плюс популярности – скидки в магазинах
http://www.championat.ru/other/_biathlon/article-28695.html
Слепцова: официально на "одноклассниках" меня нет
http://www.championat.ru/other/_biathlon/article-28698.html
- Sleptsova: More popularity - lower prices in the stores
- Sleptsova: I'm not participating in the "Classmates" network
- Sleptsova: Mehr Popularit?t - niedrigere Ladenpreise
- Sleptsova: Ich mache beim "Klassenkameraden" Netzwerk nicht mit
This is one of the great and less common interviews that don't deal with sports issues, but personal topics. It's really exciting reading, because it reveals the human side of a world famous face that everybody knows from TV. Who's the real Svetlana Sleptsova? This interview is another essential piece of the puzzle, constituting the answer.
As always, Sveta answers all questions in her strikingly honest, direct, and uncomplicated way, not trying to hide anything. Just remarkable! -
Свен, 10 Янв 2009, 18:43Oberhof....... currently, I'm not sure if I will go there next year. Here are some personal thoughts of a German Biathlon fan about this German World Cup whoopee:
- Thinking of Oberhof
- Gedanken ?ber Oberhof
The Russian translation will follow soon. -
Свен, 11 Янв 2009, 22:27It's not a secret that I don't like the biathlon stage at Oberhof that much. Actually, many Germans agree with me - it's more of a huge party, and not so much a sports event anymore. And today, it was impossible to get even near to Oberhof by car - total traffic breakdown. And me right in between, missing the women's Mass Start.......
So it's good to be home again. Now I can say that I survived the...
...Oberhof horror
(As usual, a Russian translation will follow soon.) -
Tanka, 12 Янв 2009, 23:06Oh, I've never been on such events, only want it so much, so... I wondered to hear it. And could you recommend where it possible to go to see a real sport event and not only a huge party, as you said? :o
